In a 10 minute spell at the start of the second half Treorchy turned this game in their favour to come out on top of this Division 2 East encounter.
The blustery wind and heavy outbursts of rain played a major factor with both sides making errors in the slippery conditions.
The Bwl had the better of early exchanges and when Treorchy were penalised at the first scrum of the game Ceri Cummins slotted over the penalty.
Out side half James Read opened up the Treorchy defence to create what looked to be the opening try of the afternoon. But the ball failed to go to the hand of the supporting Cummins with the try line at his mercy.
After a spell of Bwl pressure from their forwards pounding the Treorchy line, the ball was slipped out for centre Sean Ireland to power over for a try. His co centre Cummins converted.
And Cummins added his second penalty of the afternoon to extend the Bwl lead at the interval.
Half time: Ynysybwl 13 Treorchy 0
Treorchy had the elements in their favour in the second half and soon used the gusty wind to their advantage. A mistake in the Bwl back line allowed the visitors to kick the ball ahead to win the race for the touchdown. The try was converted.
Within a few minutes Treorchy created an overlap from a scrum to score wide out. The conversion put the visitors ahead.
The ‘Zebras’ now had their tails up and the Bwl were finding it difficult to get out of their own territory. A long ranged penalty followed by a drop goal put the visitors in a seemingly comfortable position.
The Bwl had been starved of their usual supply of clean line-out possession throughout the encounter but as the game wore on their forwards began to dominate once more. The Bwl had a series of scrums 5 metres from the visitors line but the Treorchy defence held firm until the closing stages when they moved the ball for James Read to score in the corner.
As the game went deep into added time the visitors held out to the final whistle to leave the Bwl with the consolation of only earning a losing bonus point.
